Uma mensagem bíblica escrita através de um labirinto de árvores no Reino Unido está ganhando a atenção da mídia. A mensagem “Eu sou o caminho, a verdade e a vida” pode ser visualizada de uma posição aérea, bem como pelo Google Earth. Peter Gunner plantou um labirinto de árvores no qual formam uma mensagem bíblica de João 14:6, na Inglaterra.
O fazendeiro Peter Gunner, de 60 anos, passou vinte anos cuidando das árvores que foram plantadas em um campo em Whitesmith, East Sussex, de acordo com o SWNS.com. Em entrevista ao The Telegraph, Gunner disse que a mensagem de labirinto que faz referência à João 14:6, é formada por milhares de salgueiros. Segundo ele, diversos voluntários ajudaram a cobrir os sete hectares de terra.
Gunner disse que criou a mensagem para que os visitantes se “perdessem” na metáfora da vida. “De certa forma, o labirinto é muito parecido com a vida: ninguém sabe o que isso se parece senão quando olha desde cima. Você pode vagar pela vida confuso quando ela de fato faz sentido de uma perspectiva diferente.”
O cristão devoto mapeou as palavras em um computador antes de ir a campo em sua fazenda Burchetts, perto de Chiddingly, com uma fita métrica e uma corda. Essa não foi a primeira vez que o fazendeiro tentou criar o labirinto. Na década de 1990, ele falhou em criar a mensagem por árvores, e teve que começar tudo de novo quando viu que isso se tornar apenas uma mancha estranha de cardos.
Gunner viu seus primeiros frutos em 2005, quando um vizinho seu, que é policial, tirou uma foto aérea tirada desde um helicóptero. Gunner, hoje, convida as pessoas de sua igreja e amigos para visitarem o labirinto, com a esperança de que também entendam a mensagem contida nele. “Toda vez que eu vejo um avião passar por cima, eu olho e faço uma pequena oração (…). Eu espero que alguém veja isso e se inspire”.

A farmer has finally reaped what he sowed after a labour of love planted 20 years ago revealed this heavenly message in a field of trees to spell out his favourite Bible passage, John 14:6: “Jesus said to him: ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life’.”
Peter Gunner chose a Bible verse, made a plan, then planted thousands of willows on a seven-acre field with the help of a few volunteers.
He has spent the last two decades carefully pruning the trees into shape – and the words can now been seen clearly from the air.
Committed Christian Mr Gunner, 62, created the message in his Sussex field so that visitors could ‘lose themselves’ in a metaphor for life.
He said: “You walk around in it but you don’t really know what your life is going to look like from above.”
The Christian mapped out the words on a computer before taking to the field at his home, Burchetts Farm, near Chiddingly, with a tape measure and some string.
But his first attempt in the 1990s backfired and he ended up with a thorny mess of thistles, so he was forced to pull it all up and start again.
Peter regularly prunes his creation, but only saw it from above for the first time recently, when a police officer neighbour gave him an aerial picture taken from a helicopter.
Unfortunately, the aerial images highlighted slight mistakes in the amazing creation – the top of the J is slightly wonky and the ‘a’ in ‘am’ is askew – which he hopes to fix one day.
He said: “It’s a sort of maze but I haven’t very often got lost in it because it’s quite open.” Religious Peter and his wife Faith also had the word ‘rejoice’ placed on the roof of their barn in different coloured-tiles.
