One person of evaluation team of cities that disputed sponsorship Games Olympics of 2016, did following note: “the most factor of evaluation to choice of cities is the legacy”. I get as a key word in our transmodern world.
We can build a legacy if we care our history. It remembers me Abraham’s history. He born in Sumerian civilization but he heard the voice of God. He was delivered from mythology of amazing way. Abraham obeyed God’s direction to establish many alliances among his journey.
Same way, we get God’s promises, did right decisions, plan what must to do, receive some gifts and blessings and preview a legacy. God called Abraham and inspired him about his legacy. Like Abraham, we walk through faith, still don’t understand boundaries and final point. But God is in control. It’s good to know. Faith is to obey. The Greek philosophy departed faith and obedience. They teach differences between beliefs and attitudes. The biblical faith is a legacy of Abraham and other people of God.
The life and ministry of Jesus is base of church’s mission. As well, the biblical narrative shows how people of God did right decisions and mistakes. The church of Christ went away from the mission in many events and times. But the Holy Spirit takes care of His legacy. God added people that were converted to church and need discipleship.
This is legacy of church to his city: to disciple lives that they are converted. It is necessary balanced churches in main dimensions of integral mission. Following projections of evangelical church growth in Brazil, I did hypothetical division:
1. We have 25% of evangelicals. In some regions most, another lower.
2. I estimate 25% of unchurched. They are cold in faith, excluded or abandoned.
3. Near 25% are arrested in wrong way. They don’t hear the simple Gospel. They are persecutors or have other religious.
4. The final 25% of people wait more testimony, preaching, compassion, opportunity to make the best decision of their entire lives.
Grace and Peace,
Jair Walter
